Dear Parents,

If you are reading this newsletter, you likely received it by email or found it on our website. In an effort to reduce copying costs, we have decided to go paperless unless a hard copy is requested by parents. We thank you for your understanding. There will be hard copies available at the school, but we would be happy to send you one if you would like. Just let us know.

I sure hope you were able to join us at the Monster Mash Bash on Thursday. What a fun night and a great start to our Hough at Night activities. A shout out to the PTSA for sponsoring and all of the volunteers who donated countless hours to make this a success. Thank you parents, staff, students, community members and the volunteers from Compass for your help. Our next HAN will be on November 17th with Beans and Bragging. I am of course just learning about all of these events, but I can see this one in November likely being my favorite. Of course, there is Chili so enough said, right? But there will also be students showcasing their accomplishments. I’m excited! Please note the change of date of this activity, as it was previously going to be on November 12th.

Believe it or not, November will be here when students arrive on Monday. This signals the time for a new character trait focus. This month we focused on Friendship. It has been great watching friendships begin and grow in the first few months of school. We will now shift to one of my favorite character traits. Please join us in teaching and modeling respect each and every day. We will have our Success Assembly next Wednesday at 10:00 am. Ask your child about the “golden awards” that are given out to classrooms during these assemblies.

Have a great weekend!

Stephen Vance
