The 4th and 5th grade teams are excited to begin implementing AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) for the 2016/2017 school year. The 4th and 5th grade teachers are asking 4th and 5th grade Hough parents to bring $20.00 to the Welcome Back Night (August 29th) rather than purchasing school materials from the district supply list. We will purchase the materials, which will ensure each student has the necessary materials to create the AVID Notebook. Parents and students will learn about AVID on August 29th at the Welcome Back Night/Recource Fair, and throughout the school year. Organization is one of the keys to success. The AVID binder is an organization tool to help students maintain school notes and school work in one place. Students will be expected this year to maintain a notebook, organized in the “AVID WAY”.
